HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer - G510g
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer suddenly decided not to scan.  Scanning feature not working - but it does print and copy (copy uses scanner, so scanner is working).  HP Scan and capture says "device offline."  Windows Fax and scan will not detect printer.  Printer does print is and is installed "correctly".  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and same thing.  Print and scan doctor sends me on a circular journey that always ends up with downloading print and scan doctor.

Need help on this.  Perhaps uninstall all HP drivers and software at root level then reinstall.

Hi @masainz,

Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand that you are facing scanning issues with your HP Officejet 4500 All-In-One Printer - G510g.

As the scanning drivers are not available for Windows 10, I suggest that you scan using Windows paint.

And here's the step by step guide for you to scan using the Windows Paint software:

Windows Paint: In Windows, search for and open Paint. Click File or the Menu icon , and then click “From scanner or camera”

You may also check the steps under “Are other scan apps and tools available?” when you click on Frequently asked questions (FAQs) in this document.

Let me know if this works.

Take care and have a good day.
