Operating System: macOS 12.0 Monterey

There is an issue with HP Scan and HP Smart Scan with saving documents as PDF's on MACs (I have just installed Ventura - not listed as an option on the HP support drop down so I have selected Monterey). Apple support are tell we they have reported the issue to HP but no solution has been provided or feedback provided.....can anyone help as my printer/scanner is out of warranty and as a result HP won't speak to me!

 

When scanning using a HP scanner (combined with Officejet) the document appears to have scanned, it is fully visible in the post scan preview window, BUT when saved as a PDF and viewed and opened from Finder the scan is blank. If I select JPEG then the scan works and when opened from Finder the doc is visible BUT I need a PDF.

 

IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS ISSUE THERE ARE WORKAROUNDS: Apple have suggested a using the "save as searchable PDF" option BUT this brings into play a third party application ( by a company called Image Recognition Integrated Systems). You can also it seems use the Apple Image Capture app but this requires me changing some settings and seems to be causing issues with printing.

 

HP Support - as this is a known issue can you let the community know when you expect to have a fix available?
