I need to find out if I can turn off fax answering?  I use this machine for faxing out rarely and NEVER for receiving faxes.  There is another fax in a downstairs office that is used for answering faxes.  There are numerous times that the fax is unattended, there for it is seriously annoying when the fax in my office answers the machine.  In the downstairs office it also interferes with the answering machine and as a lot of the work done in this business is outdoors 6 rings is annoying as we cannot get faxes if the answering machine answers first.  If there are no fixes maybe we should be able to get software that will fix the problems or at least allow the user more control over the machine.

@akpg

Welcome to HP support community.

Set the number of Rings to Answer on to receive fax more than the answering machine.

1. Touch (right arrow), and then touch Setup.

2. Touch Fax Setup, and then touch Basic Fax Setup.

3. Touch Rings to Answer.

4. Touch (up arrow) or (down arrow) to change the number of rings.

5. Touch Done to accept the setting.

Let me know if that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
