I own a HP Officejet Pro 8625e that was purchased 5 years ago.  One of my favorite features was scanning to email.  It worked perfectly for almost 5 years.  Recently, when scanning to email, the printer takes many minutes to "connect" and then it scans and an email is sent.  I have spoken to HP representatives in the past without success.  I've read other similar posts and have not had any resolutions.  I've tried restarting the printer, I've done a factory reset, I've made sure the firmware is up to date, I've tried using different outgoing email addresses.  Nothing has changed with my internet connection, modem, or router.  I've reverted to just scanning to a flash drive.  When I called HP again yesterday the representative told me my printer is "obsolete".  I was shocked to hear that a 5 year old printer is obsolete.  That makes no sense.  The problem is now magnified since I am working from home and scan frequently.  My guess is something changed in the HP firmware.  Does anyone have a suggested solution other than maybe buy a new printer?  I would then think twice if I had to choose between HP and a competitor.

From your description, I can understand the email is sent but takes a longer time than in the past?

Or does it show any error message when trying to scan to email?

No error message.  It just says "connecting".

 

What exact steps do you take to scan to email, as there are several options for such, do you select Email from the Scan menu of the printer, or maybe from the Apps menu?

Place the page I want to scan into the feeder and select "scan" and then "email".  Select outgoing email address and then the recipient.
