We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

OfficeJet Pro 8710

OfficeJet Pro 8710 connected to single line VoIP phone line which is active.  Unit is set for automatic receiving with two rings which can be heard when someone is trying to fax.  After that nothing happens.  The little screen shows fax receive failed but I have seen it only when sitting here working with someone trying to send a fax to me.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

Check the following requirements and settings if you are experiencing issues faxing over a VoIP phone connection. Fax setup and preferences settings are in the Fax or Setup menus on the printer control panel.

  • Lower the fax speed: Select the slow or standard setting.

  • Turn off Error Correction Mode: This feature helps compensate for poor landline quality when sending faxes, but can be disabled for VoIP connections.

  • Check the connection: Make sure the phone cord that came with the printer is plugged into the 1-LINE port on the rear of the printer and into the VoIP gateway.

  • Reduce Internet traffic: Send faxes when other computers or devices are not streaming or gaming over the web.

  • Restart the router and modem: This helps clear any Internet service issues.
