HP PageWide Pro 477dw Multifunction - Scan-to-Email - No Shared Cipher

I've been trawling the internet looking for information on the ciper that will allow this OVERLY EXPENSIVE multifunction device to once again scan-to-email after it decided it was not going to cooperate any more over the weekend.  I have managed to prove that it is the printer that has the issue as the server has NOT been updated in the last week.  Somehow the ciper on the printer is NO LONGER VALID for exchange with Exim Server, or apparently Exchange (outlook/Microsoft).  I have updated the firmware to the latest and it still refuses to work.  I have also found it will successfully send email if I break PCI regulation and allow weak cipers at the server end.  This means the device is perfectly able to send email, just does not have an appropriate cipher in the firmware.  Therefore one can only assume that this is a planned redundancy thing or designed wholly to have owners pay the money to get the support.  Either way it is crooked.  Has anyone got a solution to this problem?

Personal opinion: if you are in an Enterprise requiring PCI regulation you should not have consumer level products on your network. You should be using products designed for Enterprise applications that offer advanced security and compatibility with current standards. Additionally, the Pagewide series has been discontinued and will soon be EOSL, if it is not already listed that way so future updates might be limited. That said, depending on your application, scan to folder might be a solution, depending of course on the rest of your infrastructure.
