Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Hello, I want to use an old HP Photosmart 2600 All-in-One printer to scan documents. It works fine; I can start a scan through the Photosmart 2600’s web interface.

However, I have one problem: I can’t change the paper size to A4 because that option isn’t available in the drop-down menu on the web interface. Only “Letter” is available (and some other rare sizes) , but these dimensions do not match A4.

How can I make the A4 option available in the drop-down menu? I’ve set the print size to A4 in the printer driver, but that doesn’t affect the available sizes on the web interface.

Thank you for your response

Hi  @BillHolland

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you're using your HP Photosmart 2600 All-in-One to scan documents and have noticed that the Embedded Web Server (EWS) only offers Letter and a few other paper sizes, while A4 is not available in the drop-down menu. I'd be happy to help look into this with you.

To better understand the situation, could you kindly confirm a few details?

  • Does the A4 option appear when scanning through HP software on the computer, or is it missing only in the web interface?
  • Have you recently reset the printer or changed any regional settings?
  • Is the printer's firmware running the latest available version?

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :

  1. Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) using a different web browser, such as Edge, Chrome, or Firefox, and check whether additional paper-size options become available.
  2. Clear the browser cache and reload the EWS page.
  3. Verify the printer's regional and language settings, if available through the printer menus.
  4. Power off the printer, disconnect the power cord for about 60 seconds, reconnect it, and then test the web interface again.
  5. If firmware updates are available for the printer, install them and verify whether additional paper-size options appear afterward.
  6. As a comparison test, try scanning through the HP scanning software on your computer and check whether A4 can be selected there.
  7. If A4 is unavailable in the EWS, try creating a custom paper size on the computer and see whether it affects the scan workflow.

Based on your description, the scanner itself appears to be functioning correctly. The behaviour seems to be limited to the printer's built-in web interface. On some older HP printer models, the paper sizes available within the Embedded Web Server are controlled by the printer's firmware and regional configuration rather than the printer driver installed on the computer.

Because of this, selecting A4 in the Windows or Mac printer driver may not change the paper-size options presented in the web interface.

I hope this helps.
