Same problem here. Hi Betty can you share more info?

It seems to me simply not working due to software or firmware bug. Will have to return the product if it can't be fixed soon

Update from original poster - No resolution for my issue via private HP messages (in case you were wondering).  I did get a vague message to contact HP Technical support without any other direction.  It would seem HP should be responding publicly as  the issue is not for one single user.    If anyone has received a message with helpful information - please share.   Thanks, Mike.

Same problem.  Did anyone find a solution?  It only happens when I scan documents from the feeder.

My issue is "Scan to Email" only.   I've confirmed normal printing and scanning (scan and save) work fine for me, it's just the scan to email that is the problem.

I spoke with Technical Support today and they don't have an answer currently and were unaware of any issue.  Their belief is it's cloud department related as the scans go to the cloud to be emailed on .   Unfortunately due to Covid19 concerns that department is currently shut down.   I have a case number and will follow up in a few days.  I'll pass along any solution or advice I received.

I have the same issue with my HP 8025... wished i had come here before purchasing... the grey is absolutely annoying when scanning official documents for submission etc...

Please post the fix to this problem so that we can all see. Brand new printer scanning grey. Working from home and sending customers grey scans is not good. Please help!

Thank you for following this up! I have the exactly same problem, which so far only impacts Scan to Email. It's surprising that the cloud department is shut down at this moment. Shouldn't the cloud department be the most WFH-friendly department?

Isee that I am not alone on this problem.  I have perused the software to see if there is a solution and found nothing.  This is a problem that was seemingly first raised in March, and here we are almost to the end of April, and nobody at HP seems to be offering a solution.

PLEASE SEND OUT A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT CORRECTS THE GREY BACKGROUND WHEN I SCAN TO EMAIL WITH MY OFFICEJET PRO 8025.  THIS IS VERY ANNOYING - AND APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I CAN FIX MYSELF.

Hi All.  I have an OfficeJet Pro 8020 series that I just purchased a few weeks ago.  I was having the same issue and finally figured out a way to get a clean (white background) scan.   Instead of scanning using the control features on the printer itself, I instead used the HP Scan icon from my computer's desktop (the icon was installed on my desktop when I was going through the process to get my printer set-up after purchase).

From the desktop icon-

1) in settings - click the "more" link to see additional settings

2) I selected the option for "Color"

3) I then saw a drop-down box for "Exposure for Color & Gray" and clicked on that to see the options

4) From the next screen, I clicked the box at the top that said "Auto Exposure" and then hit the "Ok" button.  (NOTE: There were also options on this screen to manually adjust brightness and contrast, however, I didn't mess with that.)

5) Then you should be ready to go. Hit the "Scan" button.

You would think there would be a way to adjust the "exposure" settings from the main control on the printer itself.  As of right now I have not figured that out. If anyone else does, please post here!  Thanks!

Thanks HeaStew - I'm wondering specifically about the scan to email process.   Did your procedure eliminate that problem as well?   Thanks, Mike
