After scanning a document, I tried PDF and JPEG formats, the Save button does not allow me to click it. This is a HP LaserJet M28-M31 printer/scanner. This had previously worked approximately 3 months ago. Thanks for any help

Hi @gslight8484,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the Save button is not working in the HP Scan software for your HP LaserJet M28-M31, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Restart the HP Scan Software and Your Computer
- Close the HP Scan software completely and restart your computer. Once your computer restarts, open the HP Scan software again and try scanning and saving your document.
Check for Software Updates
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Scan software installed. You can check for updates by going to the HP Support website, searching for your printer model, and downloading any available updates.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, a free tool that helps diagnose and fix common scanning and printing issues.
Verify File Destination and Format Settings
- Make sure the file destination and format are correctly set in the scan settings. Sometimes, incorrect settings can prevent the file from being saved.
- Try saving to a different folder or drive to see if that resolves the issue.
Reinstall the HP Scan Software
- Uninstall the HP Scan software and then reinstall it from the HP website. This can often resolve any software-related issues that might be causing the Save button to malfunction.
Check for Windows Updates
- Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date, as sometimes an outdated OS can cause compatibility issues with software.
Try a Different User Account
- If possible, try logging into a different user account on your computer and see if the Save button works. This can help identify if the issue is related to user-specific settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
