I have Windows 11 on my laptop and was looking for an all-in-one HP printer.  The DeskJet 3700 is my second HP printer with this behavior.  The printer is connected via USB and prints just fine.  When I try to scan with HP Scan I frequently get the "HP DeskJet 3700 was not found" error.  I can print, but not scan so I know the connection is good.  This was a new printer so fresh install using the full driver set directly from HP.com.  Similar behavior in the Windows scan tool.

Hi,
From the search bar type CMD, right-click on Command-Line and select Run as Administrator, be sure to confirm any prompt by pressing Yes.

Past the following command and press enter:

Sc config stisvc depend= rpcss/ShellHWDetection

Now restart your computer and try scanning, may you see any difference?

The SC command was successful, but unfortunately after a restart this did not restore my ability to scan.  Would appreciate any other suggestions to get this working.

I should also mentioned that scanning DID work a few times after initially installing the printer, but then stopped and resulted in the error.
