I tried the firmware update, but a HP window appeared saying the firmware is up-to-date.  I can't scan anything larger than 8.5"x14" at 300 dpi.  The HP Store salesman insured me the printer would scan upto 11x17 at 1200 dpi.  The highest resolution the software allows is 300 dpi.

Hi,

A3 scanning can only be done from the Flatbed Glass, the feeder supports up to US Legal size only, as well it supports up to 300dpi resolution, therefore you only see the above options.

 

From the HP Scan software change the source to Flatbed Glass instead of Automatic Document Feeder (If loaded), then bigger paper sizes and higher scan resolutions will become available.
