HP Scan searchable pdf option missing although ReadIris OCR installed

Hi

I cannot scan to searchable pdf with my HP Color LaserJet MFP M477fdw printer/scanner!

I've successfully installed the latest HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477 Printer Series PCL 6 v3 Full Solution (Version: 16.0.22046.719 / Size: 106.1 MB  / Release: 03/21/2022).

I can print, copy, scan, scan to folder/e-mail. But the HP Scan Software does not offer "searchable pdf" as Destination file type! It's just missing!

So I've installed additionally and again successfully the latest Readiris Pro O.C.R Software (Version: 16 / Size: 381.8 MB / Release: 07/09/2020). Of course I could activate ReadIris without any issue!

But the "searchable pdf" file type is still missing.

• I've rebootet several times - nothing!
• I've uninstalled the MFP Full solution and installed it again - nothing.
• I've uninstalled everything, then first installed ReadIris and MFP full solution secondly - nothing.
• I've installed everything on a second Windows 10 PC - same issue!

There are so many people having issue with the missing searchable pdf file type! This is really bad design by HP!

any ideas how I can get the searchable pdf option?

The HP software and the Readiris Pro 16 (OCR) must be completely uninstalled and removed of the system.

First download only this  2 complete package:

1) "HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477 Printer Series PCL 6 v3 Full Solution ",

• Version: 16.0.22046.719
  Operating Systems: Windows 10 (64-bit)
  Release date: Mar 21, 2022
  File name: HP_Color_LJ_Pro_MFP_M477-PCL_6_v3_Full_Soln_22046.exe (106.1 MB)

and this software package:

2) "Readiris Pro 16 ",

• Version: Readiris Pro 16
  Operating Systems: Windows 10 (64-bit)
  Release date: Jul 9, 2020
  File name: Readiris14ProHPWin.zip (381.8 MB)

Then proceed as follows:

Check the system for

• TuneUp`s
• Optimization Tools
• Cleanup Tools

disable them, better uninstall them. Next...

1. Disconnect printer/scanner from computer- Disable WLAN, WiFi and/or remove the USB or LAN cable.- Do not switch off the printer >> unplug the power cord from the socket!
2. right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Programs and Features"
   uninstall all HP printer software > via "Programs and Features"
3. right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Devices and Printers"
   In the "Devices and Printers" window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
4. Restart the PC
5. Close all programs
6. Change File-Explorer-Settings:View > Options > "Change folder and search options" > Tab "View"
   • enable > Show hidden files, folders and drives
   • uncheck > Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
   OK
7. search for "HP [printer name]" and delete all this folders
8. Empty the TEMP folders
   A) C:\Users\[Your user account]\AppData\Local\Temp\
   B) C:\Windows\Temp\
system files cannot be deleted!
9. Reconnect the printer to the power supply and switch it on (if this does not happen automatically)
10. Please note: WLAN has to be deactivated!
11. Restart the PC
12. Close all programs
13. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE 1), see above.
14. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
15. Restart the PC again
16. Now the installation is complete.
17. with the Explorer change to the folder Downloads, extract the ZIP file 2), close the Explorer
18. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the setup.exe.
19. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
20. Restart the PC again

Via USB, means wait until the installation asks to connect the printer/scanner.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

Important information:

Change back the File Explorer settings -
• enable > Don`t show hidden files, folders or drives
• click button > Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
OK
