We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I have a laserjet pro MFP M148 connected via WLAN to my router.

Printing works, scaning from laptop did work till a paper jam, and scaning  at printer still works.

 

When I had yesterday a paper jam in my automatic feeder during scaning I had to stop the action.

Now, when I start new scan job via "HP SCAN " from my laptop I get the message that the printer/scanner is still busy, although there is no active scan.

I reinstalled the printer and driver but did not help. However, scaning/copy from printer does work.

 

What can I do(I do not want to use HP easy software)?

Please try restarting both your PC and the printer and check if you may see any difference then,

Dear Shlomil,

 

rebooting both does not help.

I have also reistalled the whole driver software but this does also not help.
Please let me know if you have other suggestions or where I could find a solution.

Please try making a copy from the printer, are you able to successfully make a copy?

Also, how is the printer connected to your computer, via USB or through a network connection?

Dear Shlomil,

 

1) Printer is connected via WLAN

2) I can send print jobs from PC

3) I can scan paper using "copy button" at printer

4) I can NOT scan paper from laptop to get a pdf file.

If I use (HP scan)

Sorry, it is in German but means:" Scanner is currently in use. Please wait till the currently active job is finished, and then try again scanning".

There was a paper jam in the automatic feeder and therefore the job stopped and have no chance to delete or stop this job (might be that the job is still in the local memory of the printer).
I have already turned off scanner/laptop multiple times.

I have reinstalled the drivers and also updated the firmwire.

Still the same error - > Could the job still be saved in the local memory of the printer? If yes, how could I delete this job?

Thanks for clarifying @Gernot2,,

First, let's try below steps:

 

From the search bar type CMD, right-click on Command-Line and select Run as Administrator, be sure to confirm any prompt by pressing Yes.

Past the following command and press enter:
Sc config stisvc depend= rpcss/ShellHWDetection

Now restart your computer and try scanning, may you see any difference?

 

If the issue persists, print and evaluate a Wireless Network Test Report:

From the Setup menu select Self Diagnostics, then select Run Wireless Test and confirm.

 

May you see any warning or attention within the printer report, within its middle Troubleshooting section?

 

Please clarify above, also clarify what is the listed IPv4 address if the problem remains with no difference.

1) I executed "Sc config stisvc depend= rpcss/ShellHWDetection" in the CMD shell as admin:

2) I restarted the laptop but got the same error (can not scan using HP scan)

3)I printed the "Wireless Network Test Report" via the self diagnostics from the Laserjet. There is no warning or error reported in the middle section

4) The IP address of the printer is available - why are you asking

 

May I ask if the scan job could be still in the local memory of the printer - how one could check or delete this?

Please open the HP software and select Tools, then click on Update IP Address, if you cannot see the option there click on setup and software Configuration, there look for Update IP Address, ensure the listed IP Address is correct, else type the current address and click on Update Software or Device, then confirm any prompt, restart the PC and try scanning (the reason I asked for the address, so it will be known for you at this stage)

 

If the same persists remove the printer from Devices and printers.

Next right-click the start button and select for Device Manager, there look for an Imaging Devices category and remove the printer there too by right-clicking and selecting Uninstall.

 

Now open the printer software and follow the steps to reconfigure the device and try scanning again.

In the HP-driver toolbox I press the green arrows to update the IP address  (IP adress on the printer fits the one in the software)

If I start the scan software I get the same error.

 

If I go to networking --> Wireless configuration I get the following error:

Problems with the printer communication .

It says the IP-adress should probably be updated in the option "IP-Adress update" in the set menu "start" of the printer, but I have no idea where I should do this.
