Scanjet 5590
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently re-installed Win 10.  Went to the HP website and downloaded the recommended Win 10 software (Full Features 20.0.0.002) and basic feature driver (ver 14-5) for my Scanjet 5590 scanner that I bought back when the OS was still XP.

The Full Features install asks which software you want loaded, and as TWAIN seemed to be for business, I didn't select it, but the software says it can't do the install unless I pick it.

It said it installed the basic software but it would not install the TWAIN.  The software screen said it would take approx 2 minutes and just sits there, often flickering very rapidly.  So I am assuming that until the TWAIN is installed I won't be able to use any of the software.

I tried to install software using the original CD (for XP) but had no luck.

Prior to my Win 10 reinstall, there was a program called 'HP Scanning' on my desktop that worked great, but I can't seem to find it on-line. Perhaps its too old?

When I press any of the 'scan keys' on the side of the scanner, nothing happens. I assume they are connected to whatever scanning software you have, so I must also assume that since I apparently don't have any, naturally they won't do anything.

I've tried deinstalling and reinstalling the scanner and the drivers along with PC resets but nothing works.

As my scanner is some years old, the warranty is expired so I am hoping someone here can help me out.  Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much

I tried to install just the  HP Imaging software from the original CD.   At one point I get an error that says "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\hpgwiamd.dll failed to register.  HResult - 2147024770.  Unable to resolve this.  If I hit 'ignore' on the install window it finishes, but if I try to use the control button on my Scajet 5590 an error says it cannot see the device, etc.

Any help?  Would really appreciate it
