HP Scanjet Professional 1000 Mobile Scanner
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hello everyone,

 

since I've updated my Mac to Catalina it won't longer recognise my HP Scanjet Professional 1000 Mobile Scanner. Before the update I was using an application called HP scanning utility (see attached image), which is not operating anymore because Catalina doesn't support 32Bit applications.

 

Neither is the scanner recognised by Image Capture, nor by HP Easy Scan or VueScan. Does anyone have an idea how to get this running again?

Hi Alex,

Try reinstalling the HP Software by following the latest HP Easy Start below:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

 

I would even suggest removing any installed software first by clicking the HP Easy Start menu as soon as HP Easy Start launches, from there click Uninstall HP Software and follow the steps.

 

Once completing the uninstallation, click Setup a new device and follow the steps to reinstall the scanner.

Thank you for your quick response - unfortunately, Easy Start tells me there is no software option for this product:

First, be sure to update Catalina to 10.15.3 by clicking the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update.

 

Next. try following HP Easy Start once again and check if you may see any difference:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

 

If the same results appear, try installing the following drivers and then connect the scanner to your Mac:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL36934/cs-90743-2/HPScanjet1000Driver20110411.dmg

 

May you now able to scan, either using Image Capture or the HP Easy Scan app?
