HP Smart App

For work we use HP Smart app to scan and send documents. Recently an email went out saying using the the Camera Scan to Email option is not allowed and is a breach of confidentiality due to files being uploaded to the cloud. Due to this we are to only use the Scan to Email function. When I tried to figure how both options work I could see files were created in my phones internal storage, in different locations based on the method I used, and I assume from these locations they were then attached to a newly created email. Can someone please confirm the way these scan methods work and tell me any differences between the two. Also I would very much appreciate if someone could tell me if there is any way files could be uploaded to a cloud service when doing either of these scan methods and if so how to prevent it.

Thank you

Sam

The scanned documents will not be saved anywhere except for your device and the receiver's device. The cloud storage will be active only if you have a cloud account and you sync it with HP Smart App.

Camera scan to email-

This feature will use the internal storage/gallery to save the scanned documents. And then it is retrieved from the gallery to be sent to the email from your mailbox setup on the device.

Scan to email-

This feature will directly attach the scanned document to the email in your default mailbox setup on the device. However, a copy of the scanned document will be saved on the device too.

the camera scan to email and scan to email options are both safe to use and there is no breach of confidentiality.

Hope this helps!
