MFP M479fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I continue to get an error message when trying to scan on my MFP M479fdw from the HP Smart software.  I get the error message, "Scanning is currently unavailable."

I was originally connected to my laptop through wifi.  The scanner worked for a while, but has been giving me errors for several weeks now.

I have now connected it via USB and am still having the issue.  I've run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and the Diagnose and Fix.  I've gone through the virtual assistance and rebooted the computer.  Going back to the virtual assistant, I've uninstalled the software and reinstalled following the guidance as to disconnecting and rebooting.  I've tried going to the Scan to Computer settings in the advanced setup per other forum messages, but the only option available there is Webscan.  It states webscan is unavailable even though I turned it on in settings.

I can get the scanner to work through the HP Scan app.  But I prefer the features of the HP Smart program that I installed when setting up this new printer.

Help, please!

Hi,

From HP Smart, right-click the Printer and select forget printer, then click the plus sign and add your printer. May you see any difference?

If that doesn’t work, search for HP Smart, right-click it and select app settings, from there try resetting the app and check, also uninstall it and reinstall it from the store if that doesn’t work.

Repairing the app in the settings did the trick.  Thank you so much for the helpful advice!
