I have a HP Envy and set up a Smart Task to save to GDrive in the Android HP Smart app
However even if I use PDF or JPG (the app clearly states non-ocr) when I scan the image is not a PDF or JPG but an Google Docs file with my scanned imaged poorly OCRd.
I am not sure how or where this OCR is happening. As far as I know the HP 5010 does not even support OCR
I tried exactly the same on a different Android phone and different printer, and all scans get OCRd to Google Docs format on Gdrive. In the same Smart task the PDF or JPG gets uploaded to OneDrive in the correct format. And sent to email fine.
There seems to be an issue with GDrive or HPs interface to GDrive.

The firmware on bother printers Envy 5010 and 5640 is already up to date.
Tried deleting and reinstalling the app, and re-creating the Smart Tasks.
Still the same issue of scans not being uploaded as PDF or JPG to GDrive, but a Google Docs OCR version.

This might require one on one interaction to fix the issue.
I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
- Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
- Select the country.
- Enter the serial of your device.
- Select the country from the drop-down.
- Click on "Show Options".
- Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
I hope that helps.

Hi,
I would also make sure that OCR is not enabled by any change by following 'Step 4: Enable scan to text (OCR, HP OfficeJet Pro 9010, 9020 printers)' below and making sure under Document Handling Settings that Make Searchable or Editable is turned off:
https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c06211157
Although it is specifically for the 9010 and 9020 printers, it is always possible that anyone set scanning while connected to a 9010 or 9020 printer with your mobile device, this will enable the feature for any model so it may worth to double-check that too:
note:After you enable the OCR feature with an HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 or 9020 printer, you can use the OCR feature with other HP printers.

I mentioned in my original post its a HP 5010 which does not have inbuilt OCR.
Without making any changes this now seems to be working ok.
Therefore we can conclude the issue was between HP Servers and Google Drive.

Indeed, I were aware of this information and therefore my comments were added:
Anyway, great to hear that the problem has been resolved without any changes, indeed, that make sense there was some issue.
Cheers,
