Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 11

Prior to receiving computer upgrade, I was able to use my printer scanner to print double sided very efficiently.  I would put into the doc feeder and scan the one side and then turn and scan the second side.  The pages would at completion be in correct order.  Now that I have the new Windows 11 computer when HP Smart was added to my computer I can scan but the only way to get the documents in the correct order is to scan each individual page on the screen and turn over.  This has essentially rendered the scanner very inefficient.  I have read others comment on this and was wondering if this may be something that HP will correct.  It is very disappointing to have something that used to work so well that now does not.

Hi @DHW1987,

Thanks for providing the printer model. I understand your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdn used to scan double-sided documents efficiently using the document feeder, but now on your Windows 11 PC with HP Smart, you have to scan each page manually to keep them in the correct order. Let’s go through some steps and workarounds:

1. Check HP Smart Duplex Settings

Open HP Smart → Scan → Scanner Settings → Document Feeder.

Ensure Duplex (two-sided) scanning is enabled.

If you see an option like “Automatically detect page orientation” or “Combine into single PDF”, enable it. This often restores the correct order.

2. Use HP Scan Software Instead of HP Smart

HP Smart sometimes has limitations with multi-page duplex scans, especially on Windows 11.

Install HP Scan (part of HP Easy Start):

Go to HP Software and Drivers → Enter MFP M227fdn → Download HP Scan / Full Feature Software for Windows 11.

Open HP Scan → Select Document Feeder → Two-Sided → Scan.

HP Scan usually preserves the page order correctly for duplex scans, unlike HP Smart in some cases.

3. Update Firmware & HP Smart App

Ensure the printer firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause HP Smart to mismanage duplex scanning.

Check for HP Smart updates in the Microsoft Store and install them.

4. Workaround if Duplex Still Fails

Scan the first side using the feeder, then flip the stack and scan the second side, but in HP Scan, select “Append to previous scan” instead of creating a new file. This keeps pages in order automatically.

I hope this helps.
