I had a desktop icon for Scan that used to work, but stopped working. Now I am able to scan using HP App, accessed from my taskbar. But I would like to have an icon on my desktop: how can I create one?

Hi,
Right-click the Start button and select Run, paste the following and press OK:
shell:AppsFolder
Locate the HP app, right-click it and select Create shortcut, press Yes and a shortcut will be added to your desktop.

Thanks ShlomiL,
It worked!
But shouldn't there be a more accessible, user-friendly way to create a desktop shortcut for HP App? There usually is for most programs. Why did HP make it so difficult by burying it so deep in this technical method that the average person would need an expert like yourself to find out how to do it?

Well, this is not unique to HP in any way, while Desktop applications are accessible for the desktop, Modern apps from the Microsoft Store are not, this applies to any Modern app and have nothing to do with its developer.

Hi @trtadams
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.
Follow the instructions below -
- Click the Search icon on your operating system, type Scan into the search bar,
- from the shown results right-click on Scan To and select Open File Location.
- Right-click on Scanto.exe and select Send to > Desktop,
- it will create a shortcut for the scanning software on your desktop.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I already had a solution that worked for me, from Shlomi, see earlier in this thread.
So I thought I'd just see what this newer suggestion was about. But I did not know what you meant by "Click the Search icon on your operating system." I know I sound stupid, but please explain. When I tried to do it, I came to a page describing steps to use Windows Fax and Scan. I'm not sure that is what you meant.
