This used to work fine until introduction of New Outlook to replace their Microsoft Mail app.
I'm using HP Smart app and as soon as I try to share, it opens up a window where you can select how you wish to share,
You can see both Outlook and Outlook New. you select Outlook but it doesn't open up email send window now, opens up a window with your preferred recipients and when you try to search for a contact it says it can't be found.
I have tried to delete new Outlook app, but it made no difference.
Logged into HP with 2FA as well.

You are welcome.
As to the (New) Outlook application, it might be worth checking with Microsoft whether the app is intended to import all your old mail. I believe old mail should be imported to the Outlook application but that could be a false assumption.
For the present, use whatever method works around makes sense --
For example,
If the Outlook message you want is only available in Classic Outlook, open that software and forward / send the information along to one of more recipients.

Dragon Opinion
It's not the 2016 version of Outlook that is failing, it's likely any installed Outlook software (including, for example, Office Professional 2021).
Although listed in the Share menu classic Outlook is not likely to work.
Paying for Outlook does not impact whether it works with other applications.
==============================================================
HP Smart did finally start working with the "New Outlook"application a while back.
For those still struggling try / consider:
Open Windows Mail
Switch to New Outlook
Remove your account from the app
Close the app > Wait a few seconds
Open the New Outlook App and add your account.
=====================================================
Note that when Share is invoked and (New) Outlook opens, it might be several seconds before the image / attachment shows up in the email dialog.
Example - HP Smart - Windows - Photo - Share
HP_Smart_Win_Scan_Photo_Share_2

What else?
HP Smart -
A form of Share is supported that never opens the actual mail client -- create an HP Smart Shortcut to email your content to one of more recipients.

works with new Outlook but not the copy of Outlook Classic under office package that I purchased,
The only problem is that it didn't download any old mail that I was keeping from other years. only this year was shown.
But thanks Dragon for your advice

Thanks
I need to clear up two things.
I have Office 2021 which includes outlook classic and not outlook 2016:Thus Dragon is right about office which used to work with HP Smart can no longer.
Secondly , I found out that after setting up the new outlook, I can still use my old Classic outlook for my day to day emails. If I use HP Smart and try to share to email then I now get the dialog box opening as it activates the new outlook. My classic also receives this sent email for this hp Smart sharing. I also want to point out that my office 2021 classic outlook works fine with HP Scan even with Outlook new installed.
Only problem that this solution has is that I’m running two sets of outlook which would be using up processing and storage. But I don’t share attachments to email every day, so it only opens up the outlook new when I wish to do this activity. The other option is to only use the new outlook, and if I need any old emails then web into that email server to retrieve them.
So, I have 5 solutions
1: Only use the new outlook so that HP Smart works, and Web into mail server to get older mail as New Outlook only populated the last 300 emails that I had on the email account. Need to chase MicroSoft up on this issue.
2: Run both outlooks.
3: Use only Outlook classic and use HP Scan for sharing.
4: Use only Outlook classic and save attachment in HP Smart so that you can attach to your email.
5: Use only Outlook classic and use a shortcut which appears when you share in HP Smart and send to one recipient at a time.
