Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Regardless of the OS build (in my case 19045, 4894), there are many complaints on the web about HP Smart not installing, or not opening, or a blank page. In my case, after the initial welcome, a blank page remains. There is no need to Restore or Reset or reinstall the app: it always remains a blank page, after the initial welcome.
To avoid going on, I will just tell you that I have tried everything I have found on the web. I have tried so many. Then - since in the absence of explanations - HP believes that some Windows updates conflict with the HP Smart app, I have decided to reason exactly the opposite. For me, some HP updates can conflict with W10 22H2.

So I decide to search the web for previous versions of HP Smart, finding more "packages" available. Since in January '24 the app worked well, with the 8025e just purchased, I download version 151.3.1092, which dates back (it is said on the web) to 22 Jan '24.

The 151.3.1092 works!, I could also post you a screenshot with my beautiful printer on the HP Smart page, i you want.

From this experience my conclusion: An HP (Smart) update causes the conflict with Win 10 22H2. Not the other way around.

Perhaps it's up to HP now to compare the differences between versions of Smart, and find out if and which ones could conflict with Win 10 22H2?

Bests Regards

The latest version as of Jun, 2024 is 154.2.1072.0 (USA English). If you do not have this version then go to the Microsoft store, find HP Smart, and click "update". If the button "update" is missing then you need to run WSRESET from the Windows search bar.

HP Smart is used to configure new printers.  Does your 8025e come with any scanning software, such as HP Scan?  If it does, then HP Smart is not of much use  in my opinion.  The 8025's EWS page can be opened from the local network with no need to bring up HP Smart.  MY HP LaserJet provides more options and higher resolution using HP Scan.  If HP Scan does not come with your 8025 then HP Smart is probably needed

Among the many attempts made, I also tried the Wsreset, but to no avail. With that command, if I'm not mistaken, you clean the store cache. After that, however, the latest version of Hp Smart downloads again, which here in Italy is 155 - xxx x. And then I go back to the beginning, because that version on my Win10 22H2 doesn't work. As long as I keep the old one that I tested, at least it works.

My problem is not that I can't install the latest version. My problem is that that version doesn't work with my Win10 22H2. But on the web it seems we are many with this problem.

Where did you get the 151 version?

This uses seems to have the same problem

Hi BeemerBiker,
I read the topic you posted.
It's true! It's absolutely the same as the problem I had.
I searched for the previous versions with Google, searching for "HP Smart previous versions". The search took me to an UpToDown site, with a list of versions. I chose 151, because from that same site it is dated January 2024. That is when I purchased, installed the printer, and HP Smart worked. It's clear that I decided to risk and download an installation package from a third-party site: neither HP nor Microsoft. As soon as I post this answer, I'll paste the link in that user's topic. So maybe it will help him, or give him some ideas.

It only took one run of Windows Update to update HP Smart to 155.1.1088.0 again, and to return to the problem of the white/empty window. I still have the 151 package working, which I can reinstall. But at this point I'm curious to try a version closer to the current 155.
I tried 154.1.1072.0, but it doesn't work, as with the last one.
Note that with each attempt, I first uninstall the one present on the PC, then I install the "trial" package. Now I'm trying 153.1.1137.0, and it opens regularly. Obviously you have to add the printer, to each tested version. 153.1.1137.0 is given for May 14, 2024. I think it's the "best possible" to have HP Smart working on Win 10 22H2. All I have to do is disable automatic updates for HP Smart to avoid the next Windows Update from bringing me back to 155 again!
