I am using the HP Smart software with my OfficeJet Pro 8720 printer/scanner. I can scan documents. I scan a page with "Detect edges" disabled. With a scanned document showing in the app I click Edit so that I can crop the image. I specify how I want it cropped and click Done. Usually, the preview of the image shows as unchanged - no cropping.
However, if I scan with "Detect edges" enabled you get a different style of editing/cropping screen. Cropping done in this screen seems to be much more successful after clicking the Apply button.
Also, why does one editing screen conclude with Cancel or Done buttons and another concludes with only an Apply button?

Thanks for waiting!
Try updating the computer -
Step 1 Windows Updates -
1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Also, remove and reinstall the HP Smart App.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@LarryZing, Welcome to HP Support Community!
May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
What is the Operating System installed on the computer?
Keep me posted for further assistance.

System updates were already installed.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the HP Smart app. It now seems to be working correctly. It even appears that the version I now have may be newer than what I had used previously because the UI is slightly different than I saw before.
