Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I can perfectly print via HP Smart but since recently I cannot scan anymore with HP Smart.

Although the printer is recognized within HP Smart it gives the error sign when trying to scan indicating that it could not connect to the scanner.

"HP Smart can not scan from this printer. There is no compatible scanner detected or HP Smart is not compatible with the scanner in this printer".

This is strange as it used to scan correctly with HP Smart in the past till recently. Nothing was changed on the printer neither.

Hi @MikeDN1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you are experiencing compatibility issues with the HP Smart app and the scanner in your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 printer, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Ensure that your printer and the HP Smart app are up to date with the latest software updates. You can check for updates on your printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app.
  • Restart your printer and your mobile device or computer running the HP Smart app. This can help to clear any temporary glitches or conflicts that may be causing the compatibility issue.
  • Check that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the device running the HP Smart app. If they are connected to different networks, they may not be able to communicate with each other.
  • If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app. This can help to refresh the app's settings and configuration.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
