HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw

Hi

I've got an HP Laserjet Pro 200 MFP M276nw wirelessly connected to my 16" M2 2023 MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.1.2. I've been using HP Smart to scan documents on the MFP and saving the scanned file to my MacBook. Recently (I can't quite remember when) scanning on HP Smart just produces an error message window saying "There is not enough free storage space to complete the operation". What does this mean? I have endless space on the Mac  and, when I use HP Easy Scan to scan the document, all works fine - bizarre!! Can anyone help.

Also, I used to use the "Scan to Network Folder" function on the MFP, but now I cannot get the MFP to find the network folder I'm trying to designate. The network folder address is "MJBW HD\Users\Shared\Scans". How do i get the MFP to find that folder?

Hi @mjbwatson,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering two separate issues with your HP Laserjet Pro 200 MFP M276nw. Let's address each one:

Not enough free storage space" error in HP Smart:

  •  This error typically suggests a problem with the temporary storage location used by the scanning process. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot:
  • Check available storage on your MacBook:
Ensure that your MacBook has sufficient free storage space. You can do this by going to the Apple menu > About This Mac > Storage.
  • Clear temporary files:
Clearing temporary files on your MacBook might help. You can use built-in tools or third-party applications for this purpose.
  • Reset HP Smart settings:
In HP Smart, check if there's an option to reset or clear settings. This might resolve any configuration issues causing the error.
  • Update HP Smart and printer firmware:
Ensure that both HP Smart and your printer firmware are up to date. Sometimes, updates include bug fixes that can resolve such issues.

Scan to Network Folder:

  • The issue with the network folder might be due to an incorrect network path or configuration. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:
  • Verify network path:
Double-check the network folder path "MJBW HD\Users\Shared\Scans" to ensure it is correct. You might need to use the full network path or IP address.
  • Check permissions:
Ensure that the network folder has the necessary permissions for the printer to write to it. Check both share permissions and folder permissions.
  • Test with a simple path:
Try using a simpler network folder path for testing purposes to see if the MFP can find and save to it. For example, create a test folder directly on the root of the network share.
  • Update printer firmware:
Like with HP Smart, make sure your printer firmware is up to date. HP often releases firmware updates that address compatibility and functionality issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
