HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have a new Windows 10 build, trying to attach an older Officejet Pro x576dw to it.

I have downloaded and installed the recommended Full software solution.

I have also disabled Windows firewall.

The printer is online, it has an IP address. It is connected via an ethernet cable to my router. I can ping the IP address from my computer. I can even telnet to port 9100 on it.

But when the software comes to part to connect a printer, I choose Wired network, it goes through a network check, and it unable to connect to it. It then specifically asks me for an IP address of hostname; I put in the IP address; it still cannot find the printer.

I can even go into Network devices in Windows control panel, and I see the printer on the network. I click on it, and it successfully pulls up the Embedded web server page.

Why can the software not connect to the printer?

Thank you so much for any help!

for a product like that I would recommend a manual install using the HP Universal Print Driver. First download the driver package and double click. This will unpack the driver to a folder on the root of your "C" drive. When the program prompts to run, click cancel. Go to Add printer as normal and click on option at bottom of window "my printer is not displayed". On next window select option to "add a local printer or network printer with manual settings".  Next window select "create new port" and use the drop down menu to select "Standard TCP/IP printer. Use the IP address of the printer for the address and uncheck the "Query the printer" option. When prompted for a driver, click "have disk" and then browse to the folder on the C drive and then click next and the driver will be installed.
