Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP pagewide pro mfp 577dw

HP just pushed an firmware update that is causing a scan to e-mail issue; instead of remembering the scan to email from credentials the machine auto populates with a from of debug_msg

The only way around this is to enter your credentials for From every time you want to scan to e-mail. no matter how many times you enter your credentials into the printer the printer will not remember the correct From e-mail.

Anyone with a fix would be great or if someone know how to get the old firmware for this machine that would be great.

What revision of firmware? We have many of these installed at client sites and have not had an issue. About the only way to backdate firmware on these is to find the older firmware update utility and extract the update file using a program like 7Zip to extract the .ful file onto a usb key and then startup the printer with the usb key inserted into the printer. It will see the file and install that version of the firmware.

NOT ONE WORD FROM HP ON A FIX.....spoke to them online and they had no solution it is a shame that HP would care so little about its customer base

I have the same problem with the new firmware on a HP PageWide Pro 477dw

Got some old firmware that did the trick for us.

In the link below is the 577 firmware

I have a copy of 477 as well that ill upload as I see a request for that as well.

https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1IU4UVtx1xgtwe3dJsrW3PQ1o541WO4ru

Pop it on a fat32 flashdrive in the root of the drive.

Plug in to the Printer, Wait a min and it should show up under the USB drive. Install it and presto should be working.

Also remember to turn off auto updates for the next couple of weeks.

This is a known issue and the fix is as follows if applying from a USB stick does not work for you:

First disable auto update to prevent newer firmware from being applied. YOu find this setting through the embedded web server under  tools>printer updates

The easiest method to downgrade the firmware is to either obtain or extract the .ful2 file. If you have the update utility and run it, it will not detect the printer as updatable because the firmware date code will tell the utility that a newer firmware is already installed. To extract the file from the utility, install 7zip and open the firmware update utility file. Extract the .FUL2 file and then you will need to open a command prompt on your PC with administrative privileges. You will also need to share the printer on your computer.

The syntax for the command that you type into the command window is as follows:

copy /b [enter file name of firmware here or drag and drop the file] \\nameofcomputer\sharenameofprinter

The printer will startup like it is going to print and may eject a page but will then power off, restart and download and apply the update\downgrade.

Can you imagine having to now "share" 100+ devices across multiple sites to apply this? They are network based for a reason.

Thank you for all the information and all you did this far. Can't believe we have to rely on users to help rather than HP.

Sad days.

HP could "fix" this by repackaging an older working version and rewriting the date and checksums. Then the device could get the update on it's own and be back to before this all went down.
