I understand you're able to print from your HP ENVY Photo 7855 on Windows 11, but HP Smart isn't detecting the printer for scanning. Let's walk through some steps to get scanning working again.

Restart Devices

  • Power off your printer, PC, and Wi-Fi router.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on.

Check Network Connection

  • Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your PC.
  • On the printer's touchscreen:
    Go to Wi-Fi Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Summary to confirm connection.

Use HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

Re-add the Printer in HP Smart

  • In HP Smart, click the printer icon > Remove Printer.
  • Then click Add Printer and follow the steps to reconnect.

Enable Windows Services for Scanning

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Ensure the following services are Running and Set to Automatic:
    • Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
    • Shell Hardware Detection
    • RPC (Remote Procedure Call)

Update HP Smart and Printer Firmware

  • Make sure the HP Smart app is up to date from the Microsoft Store.
  • On the printer:
    Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
