Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

HP3830 printer is printing but not scanning.  HP Scan and Capture gives "General Failure".  Have run HP Scan and Print Doctor 5.0 several times,but when I do test scan it cannot find printer.

Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:

The following resource will help you :

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.


Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

I downloaded and tried to install the FULL feature printer software from HP for Windows.  Incidentally, the HP Officejet 3830 printer software does not show support for Windows 10!  When it came to connecting the printer through USB it could not do so.  Tried using WiFi as connection.  Took me through everything and said printer had been installed succesfully.  When I tried to print there was error and no printing.

 

Tried installing the printer software in a Windows 7 environment.  Same situation.

 

Looks like the printer is dead and for some reason not connecting.  I will, unfortunately, need to replace it.

Using Win 7 software will not work.

 

Download and install the FULL feature software.  The scan software has a lot of features.

Having the same problems as the original asker, I followed your directions to download and run the Windows 10/64-bit software.  The process seemed to go smoothly, but when I clicked Done/Complete it is now endlessly spinning as if working or downloading or updating or I don't know what.  It has been showing an activity spinner for at least 20 minutes now and I am still unable to Scan documents on the HP OfficeJet 3830.
