HP8600 - when trying to scan, I get message: scanner communication cannot be established.

HP Officejet Pro 8600

I get the "printer cannot be established 90% of the time.  It may be a day or 2 later and it connects without me doing anything.  I have unplugged/replugged and also removed/re-added the printer. Any ideas how to resolve?

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues scanning.

 

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

 

Are you able to make a copy?

 

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

 

  1. Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor is open, click Start, and then choose your printer.
    • If your printer is not listed, turn it on and click Retry.
    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in the tool.
  4. Click Fix Scanning.
