HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I’m trying to setup Scan to Computer from the printer control panel to my M1 MacBook Pro that is on the same network as the 9125e printer/scanner. I don't see any way to do this. This worked fine with the HP 8600 that I replaced. Need guidance.

Did an online chat with HP. They said Scan to Computer does not function for MacOS. Wow! I am really disappointed. This just cannot be that hard to implement. I am shocked and dismayed with HP.

Has anyone figured out how to hack this 9125e for Scan to Computer?

Hi @mykeg1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with Scan to Computer on MacOS  your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer . Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Unfortunately, HP has limited Scan to Computer functionality for many models on macOS. However, there are workarounds you can try to set up an alternative solution that effectively achieves Scan to Computer on your MacBook Pro. Here are some methods:

Use HP Smart App for Scanning: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Download the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store, as it supports scanning functionality.
  • Open HP Smart and add your printer if it’s not already there.
  • From within HP Smart, choose Scan to initiate scans from your Mac. This won’t initiate directly from the printer's control panel but is a reliable way to scan to your Mac.

Image Capture Application:

  • Open Image Capture (built-in on macOS) from your Applications folder.
  • Select your printer from the list of devices in Image Capture.
  • You can initiate scans directly from your Mac, and Image Capture allows for saving scanned documents directly to your desired location.

Setting Up Network Folder for Scan to Network (if available):

  • If your OfficeJet Pro 9125e supports Scan to Network Folder, you could configure it to save scans to a shared folder on your Mac.
  • Set up a shared folder on your Mac that the printer can access on the network, then configure the network folder settings on the printer’s web interface.
  • Log into the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer’s IP address in a web browser.
  • Under Scan settings, configure the Scan to Network Folder option with the path to your Mac’s shared folder.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Gaua1239,

Thanks for your reply. I already was able to use the various scan functions from the Mac like HP Smart, Image Capture and others. My issue is initiating a scan using the Control Panel on the printer to Scan to Network Folder.

The last step you mentioned ""Under Scan settings, configure the Scan to Network Folder option with the path to your Mac’s shared folder" does not offer any option to identify a shared MacOS folder. It only has options for file name, prefix and suffix.

Am I missing some option here?
