Today HP Smart forced me to make a profile to use my Deskjet 3755 scanner function. Since creating a username, it now says "couldn't connect to scanner." It is connected via USB. This is infuriating because I need it for work right now. It was fine last week when I didn't have a profile for my HP Smart app, and since being forced to create a profile I can no longer use my scanner?! HP Smart still detects the All-in-One printer and shows the ink level, etc.

Hi @thanks4nothing,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing an issue with the HP app not detecting your scanner function properly after creating a profile. This can be frustrating, especially if it's urgent for your work. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
- Restart Devices: Begin by restarting both your HP Deskjet 3755 and your computer. This can resolve temporary connectivity issues.
- USB Connection: Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both your printer and your computer. Try using a different USB port or cable to rule out connection issues.
- HP App Reinstallation: Try uninstalling the HP app HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site from your computer and then reinstalling it. This can sometimes resolve software glitches that occur after updates or profile changes.
- Update Drivers: Make sure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can check for and download the latest drivers on https://support.hp.com/us-en.
- Check Scanner Settings: Within the HP Smart app, ensure that the scanner is listed as an available device. Sometimes, re-adding the printer can help the app recognise the scanner function.
- Network vs USB Mode: Although your scanner is connected via USB, ensure that the HP Smart app is set to look for USB-connected devices rather than network ones.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
