Hi @FRMjr,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want to scan a document to PDF using your HP Smart Tank 7301 All-In-One printer, you can follow these steps:

  • Prepare Your Document: Place the document you want to scan on the scanner glass or in the automatic document feeder (if available) of your HP Smart Tank 7301.
  • Turn on the Printer: Ensure that your printer is powered on and properly connected to your computer or network.
  • Open HP Smart App or HP Easy Scan: Depending on your operating system, you can either use the HP Smart App or HP Easy Scan software to initiate the scanning process. These applications are usually available for download on the HP website or through your computer's app store.
  • Select Scan Option: Once the scanning software is open, select the option to scan a document. You may have different scan options available, such as "Scan to Computer" or "Scan to Email". Choose the appropriate option for your needs.
  • Choose PDF Format: Before initiating the scan, ensure that you have selected PDF as the output format. Look for an option such as "File Type" or "Save as Type" and select PDF.
  • Adjust Settings (if necessary): Depending on your preferences and the content of the document, you may want to adjust settings such as resolution, color mode, and orientation. These options are usually available in the scanning software.
  • Start Scanning: Once you have configured the settings according to your preferences, initiate the scanning process by clicking on the "Scan" or "Start Scan" button.
  • Save the PDF: After the scan is complete, the software will prompt you to save the scanned document. Choose a location on your computer where you want to save the PDF file, and give it a descriptive name.
  • Finish: Once the PDF is saved, you can close the scanning software and access the scanned document from the location where you saved it.
