Hi all,
I am also looking for this feature as well (i.e. scan a document on printer and send the result in pdf to my private email).
This is explained clearly in the video link provided by Aryan Raheja (Thanks Aryan).
As you can see from the video, the instructions are applicable to CM6040 MFP series, while HP 4520 all-in-one series does not have the tab "Digital sending" when I login to the ip adress of the printer.
It looks like the printer supports only Webscan option. With Webscan, you can scan photos and documents from your printer to your computer using a web browser.
Can any one confirm that HP 4520 all-in-one supports the feature "scan to email"?
Regards, Ezzat

Hi Ezzat,
Printer features varies from one model to another, the Envy 4520 do not provide digital filing capabilities such as a commercial printer as you describe.
The HP Envy 4520 do not provide any stand alone Scan to Email feature, it only provide a such through the HP Software if you have a mail client installed and configured on your computer.
You may follow the steps below top scan to email if you have a mail client such as Outlook installed and configured on your computer, if no such email client exists and use a webmail account such as Gmail.com you will need to scan as a file and manually attach the file through your email.
Follow the 'Scan with HP Scan software > Scan to email' section in this document:

Scanning issues… Try this as this scans to email.
Please try this scan solution:
HP Scan Extended
For Windows: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
Make searchable PDFs scans with this free scanning software - https://www.naps2.com/
Let us know.

Sabretooth04,
Thanks for your reply and providing a solution to my problem. The HP Envy 4520 do not provide any stand alone Scan to Email feature. This was the answer to my question.
I did not try your suggestion yet, because I tried the workaround provided by ShlomiL, and it worked fine for now. I will try your solution later and will comeback to you with a feedback.
I appreciate your answer.
