Let’s get your HP Smart Tank 5104 scanning properly. This model supports scanning via the HP app, Windows built-in scan utility, and printer control panel (for direct-to-PC or email scanning). Since the Windows version is unknown, I’ll give you universal steps that work on Windows 10/11:

Step 1: Install HP App


Step 2: Scan Using the HP app

  • In HP Smart, click Scan.
  • Choose Scan Document or Photo.
  • Adjust settings (resolution, color, file type).
  • Click Scan, then Save or Share.


Step 3: Use Windows Scan Utility

  • Press Windows + S, type Windows Scan, and open the app.
  • Select your HP Smart Tank 5104.
  • Choose File Type (JPEG, PDF).
  • Click Scan.


Step 4: From Printer Control Panel

  • Load the document on the scanner glass.
  • Tap Scan > Computer (or Scan > Email, if configured).
  • Select your PC from the list.
  • Press Start Scan.


If the Scan Option Doesn’t Appear
