Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

After I  scan a photo on my HP 3301 Smart printer and then save it, I get "Scanner still in use" error message when I attempt to scan the next photo.  The only way I can continue is to restart the printer EVERY time.  AI generated solution says to adjust the network timeout or scan delay in Settings.  I cannot find anything related to those settings in the Network folder.  Anyone have a solution??  Thank you.

@JEDI-NOLE, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding "Scanner still in use" error on HP 3301 Smart Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are experiencing a "Scanner still in use" error after each scan and you need to restart the HP 3301 Smart Printer to continue, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates on the HP support website or via the printer’s settings if it supports updates through the control panel.

Restart Printer and Computer: Before starting a new scan session, try restarting both your printer and the computer. This can sometimes clear any lingering processes that may be causing the scanner to remain "in use."

Check HP Smart App: Make sure you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app or the printer software. An outdated app may cause compatibility issues or bugs that result in scanner errors.

Reset the Printer: You can try performing a printer reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Scanner Timeout Settings: While it was mentioned that AI generated solution suggests adjusting the network timeout or scan delay settings, sometimes such settings may be hidden or not available in the user interface. Instead, look for any advanced settings related to the scanner or network settings within the printer’s embedded web server (EWS). Access the EWS by typing your printer's IP address into a web browser and navigating to the settings section.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
