HP Recommended

I have tried everything but cannot get it to work. I place a normal size copy of a picture to copy on my printer and I want to resize it (for example) 5x7. I can get it to reduce to a 5x7, but it cuts half of the picture off.

Hi @Wampus1974,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To reduce and resize your image properly on the HP Officejet Pro 9120e without cutting off parts of the picture, follow these steps:

Steps for Resizing on HP Officejet Pro 9120e:

  1. Place the Original Picture on the Scanner Bed:
    • Place the original image you want to copy on the scanner glass, making sure it’s aligned in the top-left corner of the glass (usually indicated by a corner mark).

  2. Access the Printer Settings:
    • On the printer’s control panel, select Copy.

  3. Select the Resize Option:
    • Look for the Resize or Reduce/Enlarge option. This is often available on the display as a quick button or in the Settings/Advanced Settings menu under Copy Settings.

  4. Choose the Desired Size (e.g., 5x7):
    • Select Custom Size or the predefined option for 5x7 inches (if available).
    • If you're selecting a custom size, you’ll need to input 5x7 inches manually. Make sure to choose the correct orientation (portrait or landscape) for the printout.

  5. Adjust the Margins and Layout (if needed):
    • If the printer is cutting off the image, it may be because the margins are too tight or the image is not fitting proportionally in the selected size.
    • If the Auto Fit option is enabled, try disabling it to give you more control over the layout.
    • Consider selecting the Fit to Page option (if available), which can help the printer adjust the scaling to fit the paper size better, without cutting off important portions.

  6. Print Preview:
    • Before printing, see if your printer gives a preview on the screen to ensure the image isn’t being cropped. If there’s no preview, try printing a test copy on cheaper paper to confirm the image fits as desired.

  7. Adjust Image Placement if Needed:
    • If the printer cuts off part of the image, you might need to manually adjust the position of the original image on the scanner glass to ensure it’s correctly centered.

  8. Confirm and Print:
    • Once everything looks good in the preview, press Start Copy to print your resized 5x7 image.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
