Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Product: HP OfficeJet 8022 All-in-One Printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

I was able to  scan and put the items on my desktop.  Since the HP Smart is now on my printer I cannot do that.  I want to remove the smart and go back to what I had before?????

Welcome to the HP User Community.

 

HP Smart is an application.

Just having HP Smart installed does not prevent other software from working.

HP Smart - Windows - does allow you to scan and then choose your destination.

Desktop is simply a Folder and can be selected on the local file system.

 

"Don't want it"

Assuming the Full Feature Software (full driver printer software) is installed, you can certainly uninstall HP Smart.

 

 

 

Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

Find HP Smart in the list > Click and Uninstall

Restart the computer and log in

Optional >> Get and install a new copy of the Application from the Microsoft Store

I have the same issue and for everything I've read, it is now required to sign in. That said because of this, it will be the last HP printer I will buy. I've owned multiple ones, but I find this intrusive and causes extra steps. It makes it impossible for my wife to print as she is less than computer savvy.

Fortunately, using the HP Smart application is not mandatory - it is a choice.

If you need help using the full driver printer software, start a new question.
