What to do?

The HP Smart application can send / share / save your scanned content.

Important

At this writing, HP Smart - Windows - does not support "Share" (to email) if you have migrated your Windows Mail / Microsoft Mail app over to "New Outlook".  HP Smart does not yet understand how to work with the New Outlook App.

If you downgrade back to standard Windows / Microsoft Mail, HP Smart Windows will again work with "Share".

If you cannot stand the idea of backtracking to regular Windows Mail right now, there is an OK-but-not-great workaround using HP Smart Shortcuts.  Ask for an example if interested.

What about HP Scan - part of the Windows full driver printer software?

HP Scan supports sending content to Email if you have installed a Mail Client on your computer.

Oddly, the client that works is the Outlook mail software.

What about HP Smart - Mobile?

HP Smart - Mobile - at least for iOS and iPadOS -- can send scanned content using Share (to email).

HP Smart Mobile Scan > Email also works with an HP Smart Shortcut created for the purpose.

Android?  No idea - I retired my Android phone a while ago - it was not my friend.
