HP LaserJet MFP M234dw

How do I resize a copy on an HP LaserJet MFP M234dw printer?

The product specifications found here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/details/hp-laserjet-mfp-m232-m237-printer-series/model/30836604

indicate that the printer is capable of resizing a copy.

The range is listed there as follows:

Copy reduce / enlarge settings
25 to 400%

The same information is given on the HP LaserJet MFP M234dw Printer Technical specifications data sheet found here:

It indicates copier settings, as follows:
Copier settings Reduce/Enlarge; Number of Copies; Lighter/Darker; Optimize; Paper size/type
Copier resize 25 to 400%

Yet, I can find no way to resize copies.

The control panel on the printer, itself, does not seem to have a copy resize option. There is an option to change the number of copies or to make the intensity lighter or darker, but not to resize the copies, themselves.

I have tried to find this option within the HP Smart App on Windows 11. I searched through all the menus and the possibility that seemed most promising was found by clicking on my printer, going to and clicking "Advanced Settings." That leads to a screen with a bar across the top that says Home - System - Copy - HP Web Services - Networking. When I click "Copy," it takes me to a screen that says "Default Copy Options" and lets me know where to find my printer's PIN. I'm asked to click OK to continue...... and the link appears to be dead. It either goes nowhere or it gives me a "Hmm... Can't reach this page" error. It implies that my computer is not connected to the network (it is). The internet is working fine. & I've tried it on three different working computer networks and I still can't get through.

I tried getting to the same settings using the HP Smart App on iOS. It hangs in the same place. I tried it with wifi without cellular data and with cellular data without wifi. I can't access those settings. I don't even know if the settings I'm looking for are in there.

That is everything that I've tried so far.

For a MFP that advertises itself as being able to reduce and enlarge copies, this is a lot of headache and hassle for a very simple, basic function.

Please help me understand how to reduce and enlarge my copies. Please take me through it step by step.

Thank you.

The support suggestions do not help. The model in the video has the function button on the printer, but this model M234 only allows one to manually select number of copies and darkness/density of scan. Please help!

 Hi @Dhmvlgowhsnr@ArianaW ,

Can try to change the copier settings through Embedded Web Server (EWS) interface.

1. Find the IP address of printer

2. Open EWS and change the "Reduce/Enlarge" settings (under Copy) and "Set as new defaults"

The Copy will be copied based on the EWS settings.

Hope that helps!

Hi! Thank you for the guidance. I look forward to trying it out. Do you happen to know how I can find the IP address for the printer?

Hi @ArianaW

Press on the "i" (Information button) on the control panel and it will print out a Printer Information Report, if the printer is connected to the network, the IP Address can be found there (under "Wireless" > IP Address)

Hope that helps!.
