HP DeskJet 3730
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

when scanning documents, those are scanned with vertical stripes. Educated guess that is due to dirty scanning glass.

For the model in question, HP DeskJet 3730, does not look easy to clean the glass since is not exposed.

There is any recommended solution for such problem? Looks like dismantling the printer by official service is the only option

This is NOT a problem when printing, only SCAN

Thanks in advance,

Pedro

Hi Pedro,

Try calibrating the scanner through the software and check if that may help:

This appears to be one of those "rock bottom" printers that lacks moving parts to make it less expensive to manufacture and easier to use.  At least that is my opinion after having looked for anyone having disassembled one of these units.  I did not check "everywhere" - a quick check did not disclose any obvious documents and I did not check videos.

Product introduced Late Summer 2016 to Mid-2017 (release region dependent)

Product Price point was somewhere between $50 and about $79 USD.

So, if you have a local printer tech in your area, then sure - have him (or her) take apart the little printer and see if the scanner needs to be cleaned.  Or, you could take it apart yourself - might break the printer, of course, but maybe not. **

** Statement is NOT a recommendation that you should disassemble your printer.   Doing so will likely break the printer.  The statement does, however, recognize that the situation may warrant that you consider what you can and want to do.

Or...

You could also try using compressed air to gently sweep out where you can get to the "insides".  If the streaking is caused by a tiny bit of "something" lodged along the edge of the hidden scanner glass, the "brush out" might help.  Make sure your compressed air is "just air" and not some gooey confection of chemicals.  Do not use too much force or you might end up doing the same kind of damage you want to avoid (broken printer).

 Improving Scan Quality

Not really useful for physically cleaning the unit - document included for the sake of "This is what we have available".

Ah!  We crossed each other in our answers.

Calibration sounds like the exact place to start.

Much better than taking apart the printer.  Smiling.
