I am using this machine for the fax to Email function. The Fax log keeps getting full and makes it so I lose faxes. Is there a way to disable the fax log? Or to auto clear after it reaches so many Faxes? This is a serious issue as I can't clear the log everyday manually.

If you have not done so, consider:

Switch off the Fax Confirmation reports for both send and receive.

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Fax > Settings > Advanced Fax Settings

Click Apply to save any changes

I tried this yesterday after doing some research I changed the settings to what you have recommended.  I also spoke to HP support via chat. The guy I spoke with told me that the machine has a hard limit of 30 faxes in the log and then will need to be cleared out manually every time or I will not be able to receive anymore faxes. Is this true?

Partial Excerpt

Set up backup fax
Depending on your preference and security requirements, you can set up the printer to store all the faxes it receives, only the faxes it receives while the printer is in an error condition, or none of the faxes it receives.

To set backup fax from the printer control panel

1. From the printer control panel display, touch Fax .
2. Touch Setup .
3. Touch Preferences .
4. Touch Backup Fax Reception.
5. Touch the required setting.

Settings include

On

The default setting. When Backup fax is On , the printer stores all received faxes in memory. This enables you to reprint up  to 30 of the most recently printed faxes if they are still saved in memory.

NOTE: When printer memory is low, it overwrites the oldest, printed faxes as it receives new faxes. If the memory becomes full of unprinted faxes, the printer stops answering incoming fax calls.

NOTE: If you receive a fax that is too large, such as a very detailed color photo, it might not be stored in memory due to memory limitations.

On Error Only

Causes the printer to store faxes in memory only if an error condition exists that prevents the printer from printing the faxes (for example, if the printer runs out of paper). The printer continues to store incoming faxes as long as there is memory available. (If the memory becomes full, the printer stops answering incoming fax calls.)  When the error condition is resolved, the faxes stored in memory print automatically, and then they are deleted from memory.

Off

Faxes are never stored in memory. For example, you might want to turn off Backup fax for security
purposes. If an error condition occurs that prevents the printer from printing (for example, the
printer runs out of paper), the printer stops answering incoming fax calls.

Limit of 30 faxes?

Sounds right.  In fact, "up to" 30 faxes is correct based on the User Guide (Page 79)

Resolution and the amount of detail may the amount of memory, though I am not sure about the memory storage "after the fact", that is, once received and printed, is the required memory more or less to store the data.   I would guess the higher density data takes more memory to store but I have no information on how (or whether) the printer handles data compression for storage.

While using the digital fax is there a way to overwrite the oldest entry so I do not get the error? It's not possible for me to monitor the machine over the weekend.

Edits - Clarify Content

I do not know of a way to bypass the printer's natural behavior.

If the User Guide does not provide a means to control how Digital Fax uses memory,

If the documents in Category How-to > Select Topic Fax do not include methods to edit / control Digital Fax behavior,

I do not know of a way to bypass the behavior to edit the Fax memory and clear one or more entry from memory.

Random Discussion - Nothing new to see here

The backup fax feature gives you the opportunity to not save the faxes under selected conditions.

The Backup Fax set to "ON" position appears to save up to 30 faxes and will overwrite the oldest faxes when printer memory is low.

Suggestions

It sounds like you might benefit from an eFax / Mobile Fax service.

I do have an Officejet Pro 9025 - it is my experience that the User Guide for this model is fairly good (complete).

What you want not in the guide?  If there is something missed it may be included in one of the documents in  Category How-to > Select Topic Fax
