I recently reinstalled all software on the computer which wiped out the printer and scanner. I got the printer reinstalled but cannot seem to get the scanner to work. How can I get the scanner to communicate?

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Scanner Issues on HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer! 

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.  

  

If your scanner is not communicating with your HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer after reinstalling your software, you can follow these steps to resolve the issue:

 

Verify Connections:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to the computer via USB or network connection.
  • Check that the cable is securely connected and not damaged.

Install HP Scan Software:

  • Download and install the HP Scan software which is required for scanning.
  • Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads and enter your printer model. Select your operating system (Microsoft Windows 11) and download the latest scanner software.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure that all printer and scanner drivers are up-to-date.
  • Again, you can find drivers at the HP Support website. Make sure to download and install any updates for scanner drivers.

Check Windows Services:

  • Make sure that Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running.
    1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
    2. Type services.msc and hit Enter.
    3. Scroll down to find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and ensure it is running.
