Hi @Alzeta,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To fix a black line when printing or scanning on your HP DeskJet 4155e, try the following steps:

1. Clean the Printhead

Access Printhead:

  • Open the printer cover and remove the ink cartridges.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water or a printhead cleaning solution.
  • Gently wipe the printhead contacts and the nozzles to remove any dried ink.

2. Check for Paper or Debris

  • Ensure there are no paper scraps or debris inside the printer that could interfere with the print process.

3. Perform Printhead Alignment

Open HP Smart App:

  • Go to the maintenance section of the app.

Select Printhead Alignment:

  • Follow the prompts to perform an alignment, which can help correct print quality issues.

4. Run the Printer Maintenance Utility

Use HP Smart App:

  • Open the app and go to the "Print Quality" section.

Select "Clean Printheads":

  • Follow the prompts to initiate a cleaning cycle.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date by checking through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

6. Check Ink Levels

  • Make sure your ink cartridges are not low or empty. Replace them if necessary.

7. Test with a Different Document

  • Try printing or scanning a different document to see if the issue persists, as the problem could be with the specific file.

8. Check for Hardware Issues

  • If the issue continues, consider examining the scanner bed for scratches or damage, which could cause lines during scanning.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
