My printer would no longer scan so I removed it, thinkingg that a reinstall might fix it, but when I tried to reconnect I found I need the CD. I no longer have a working CD drive. How can I reconnect the printer?

Can the machine make a simple Copy? Both scan and copy use the same hardware in the printer.
If the printer will neither copy or scan, the issue might be hardware (no software fix for that).
