I have installed the HP Software (HP Smart) but there is no option for scanning a double sided document

Hi,
Try using HP Easy Scan below and let me know if you may scan duplex using the Edit Settings menu at the top:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_...

Thank you.  That works perfectly.  It is possible to select "scan both sides of page" in Presets: Edit Settings.
