On the scan 'page in the HP Printer Assistant" there is no option to scan as a word document. There is only PDF, JPEG, OCR. The OCR and "everyday scan' don't seem to convert very well to word. As far as I can tell, to convert from a PDF to a Word document, I have to download and pay for an Adobe program. On my old printer, I had the option to scan as a document. I don't feel I should have to pay for another program or download another program to scan a document, save it and work on it.
Suggestions please? Thanks much!

Plenty of Free OCR software on the web.
Free OCR
http://www.paperfile.net/index.html
OCR to Word
http://www.ocrtoword.com/
Both work great.
