@Mottingham, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you're trying to scan a page and save it to your PC, follow these simple steps:

  1. Place the document on the scanner glass or the ADF.
  2. Open HP Smart on your PC.
  3. Click Scan and choose your scan preferences (color, resolution, etc.).
  4. Click Scan, then hit Save, choosing your preferred location and file format (PDF, JPEG, etc.).

If HP Smart isn’t installed, you can also scan using Windows Scan.

Also, you may refer to this guide: How to scan with an HP printer | HP® Support

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Many thanks for your reply to my query.  I followed all your steps: Click Scan, then hit Save, choosing your preferred location and file format (PDF, JPEG, etc.

I have used my HP Smart phone app however, it does not offer any location to save to.  When I try from my PC all I get is:

An error has occurred

noCookieFound

Hey @Mottingham,

Thank you for your response

It looks like you're running into an issue with HP Smart when trying to save scanned files. The "noCookieFound" error suggests a problem with the app's authentication or connection to HP's cloud services. Let's go step by step to resolve it:

Restart Everything

Restart your PC and Printer.

If using a phone, close and reopen HP Smart, or restart the phone.

Sign Out & Sign Back Into HP Smart

Open HP Smart on your PC.

Click on your profile (top-right corner) and sign out.

Restart the app and sign back in.

Reset HP Smart App on Windows

If the error persists:

Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.

Find HP Smart and click Advanced options.

Click Reset (this clears corrupted cache files).

Reinstall HP Smart

Uninstall HP Smart from your PC.

Restart your PC.

Download and install the latest version from the Microsoft Store.

Check File Permissions

Try saving the scan to a different location (like Desktop or Documents).

Ensure HP Smart has permission to write files:

Open Settings > Privacy & Security > File System

Check if HP Smart has access.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Garp

Many thanks for you reply to my problem. Much appreciated. I have carried out your instructions with mixed results.

I can sign in to HPSmart on my smartphone and scan from my printer and save it to my PC.

However, on my PC when I press the Scan button it goes straight to a signing-in page. I put my email address and password and it immediately the error  X-request-id: c6adcd60-0bc4-11f0-a092-efc021a6db09.65d9ce00-0fdc-11f0-a092-efc021a6db09 appears. So I cannot sign in on my PC.

On a phone call to HP tech I was told the reason for this is because my PC is on Windows 10 and the HPSmart App no longer works on Windows 10.

Where I can go from here, please?
