I have been trying to setup scan to email, the printer has worked fine when i print a document from my pc or phone or whatever, no problem there...
However I was awarded a new job in a different city, I must move there soon, they sent me numerous documents to print , sign then scan & email back to them, I have all the documents filled out but struggled all day trying to get the documents scanned to my or any email.
I'm just connecting to the printer over wifi, laptop running windows 10, email is **bleep**, i have tried following instructions but they are super confusing, i have printed network summary pages, accessed the printer via ip in browser & confirmed network info, tried several email addresses, multiple smtp servers , i'm not sure what is what anymore, this seems way too difficult, i build pc, soder microchips, install all drivers, configure my NAS, share everything on my network etc but i cant scan to email ?
Could someone please help dumb this down for me ?

Please use the following Guide
https://support.hp.com/ee-en/document/ish_3016802-3148193-16
You can always scan as pdf file and attach to your email to send.
Regards.

"You can always scan as pdf file and attach to your email to send."
For real ? This is exactly what i have been trying to do ?
In the Email Address area, complete the following steps:
In the Your Email Address field, enter the sender's email address for the new outgoing email profile.
In the Display Name field, enter the sender's name. This is the name that will display on the printer control panel.

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.
There are perhaps a few ways to approach this.
Note:
Offered with good intent.
Read what you want - take or ignore suggestions as relevant or not...
EVERYTHING here is subject to the vagaries and differences between printer models / types.
The laser printer software might look different, the options might be different.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just so you know...
1. If you have not done so, install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.
2. Scan > Save > Open Email > Attach files > Send
3. IF it is an option in your HP Scan software on your laser printer -
This option requires that you have an installed email client software installed on your computer. This is not "accessing email via web browser" - "installed" email client (for example) might be Outlook or Thunderbird.
Scan the content using HP Scan > Use Shortcut "Email as PDF"
NOTE: If the option exists, the "email" shortcut might be listed under a different but still recognizable name.
4. The "SMTP" solution, explained later in this message: Set up "Scan to Email" using EWS.
5. Not mentioned in your printer's documentation - but MIGHT work if your Laser printer will support the application: Use HP Smart Windows to scan the contents and "Share" with your email recipient(s). (Remember to CC yourself.) Reminder: This option, if it works, does require that you sign into the application using your HP Account credentials. What? Sign-in is not sneaky and trying to spy on you - the sign in is required to support various Cloud Storage and Share operations offered in the application. Even if it works, using HP Smart is OPTIONAL.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Printer Software - The Full Feature Software
OK, just to make this more interesting and possibly more confusing,
This printer software appears to support being downloaded / saved / installed directly from the installation web package (the "old" standard method): HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130fw/M132fw Full Feature Software and Drivers
AND
The printer software appears to support using Easy Start Software wrapper method.
Of the two, if it works for you, the "Easy Start" is sometimes a better option...
==============================================================================
The full driver provides the foundation on which other programs and printing software depend.
Preparation
If you have not done so,
In addition to the HP Smart application,
Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software for the printer.
HP Smart and other print software / applications benefit from having the full driver installed.
Printer Software Check
Notes
If the full driver printer software is installed, you will see the printer listed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features.
The installation of the printer software adds two shortcut icons to the Desktop.
The Printer Assistant is named for the printer and provides access to Print , Scan , and Tools
HP Scan is named for itself and provides a direct call to the HP Scan software.

Printer software not installed - OR - (still) installed but not working?
NOTE: If the printer software shows installed but is not working as expected,
Uninstall the printer software from Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features
Restart the computer and log in
Reminder: If using USB, disconnect the USB printer cable between the printer and the computer before installing software. (Re)Connect the USB cable when instructed to do so near the end of the installation procedure.
Install a fresh copy of the Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software
Restart the computer and log in
Method - Use the Easy Start Wrapper to Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Software
For printers that support the option,
Use the Easy Start wrapper to install and configure the printer software.
- Home Page - HP Easy Start
- Open Category Software and Drivers
- Topic: Software-Utility
- Download-and-Save the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software
- If using USB: Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and computer before installing the software.
- Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
- When asked, Select to install the “Full Driver” / “Full Feature Software”
- If using USB: Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the end of the installation process).
- After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.
Notes >> Easy Start... The Journey
- Full Administrator Rights are required to complete the HP Software installation.
- About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver or other application).
- You can skip / ignore suggestion(s) that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, for now, you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.
- If you see it, you can skip / ignore suggestion(s) regarding Instant Ink subscription. Instant Ink subscription is NOT mandatory.
- Full driver includes print and scan functions supported by your printer and provides the printer features on which other applications / software might depend.

2. Scan / Attach / Send
Pretty much like it sounds.
Basic email stuff.
Scan the content, possibly using HP Scan > Save content to a PDF file > Open your email > Create your message > Attach the saved file(s) > Send to your recipients
Example - HP Scan - Main Menu
9025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_5
================================================================================
3. HP Scan > Email as PDF
Install an Email Client software - for example, Outlook or Thunderbird.
Make sure the client is using IMAP and can send / receive emails.
Use HP Scan to Scan and Send the content to your recipients.
Example - HP Scan - Email as PDF (image works about the same)

================================================================================
4. Scan to Email - EWS - SMTP setup
If you have not done so...
Try setting up the Scan to Email process using the Embedded Web Server (EWS) as described in the user manual.
HP LaserJet Pro MFP M129-M132, HP LaserJet Ultra MFP M133-M134 - User Guide
Starting on Page 72
Example - EWS - Scan-to-Email SMTP setup
NOTE: Your laser printer might provide the settings in a different "tab" and / or the exact setup might differ from the sample.

5. Use HP Smart (Windows) to scan and Share your document(s)
Add your "sender" address to the Windows Mail application.
IF your sender address uses two-step verification,
Set / Add an Apps Password
OR
Set the email security (at the email provider) to Less Secure
Install HP Smart (Windows)
and use the application to scan and share your document(s) with recipients.
HP Smart for Windows
HP Smart is an application available in the Microsoft Store
