Are you subscribed to Instant Ink? If yes I do not think the printer will operate without a connection as HP needs to monitor ink usage. If you are not subscribed to instant ink then you should be able to download the driver set from support.hp.com rather than the HP Smart install. Configure scanning to a local folder on your PC.

I do not intend to subscribe to instantink. I found in hp support the following driver set: OJ7740_Full_WebPack_40.12.1161_1.exe

Is it the correct one and where should I download it??

Do I have to uninstall the HP Smart application??
